We were all waiting for this day to happen, and when we heard it was we just KNEW we had to be there. And I was. This morning ... I watched JUSTIN BIEBER PERFORM AT SUNRISE! I would've been like ... 5 away from him man! JUSTIN BIEBER! 5 METRES! hahahha.
The full story:
It was me and Tommy. There was no chance I was going to miss it so I told him to call me as soon as he woke up and vice versa so that we'll both be awake at the same time. Good plan (:
He woke me up at 3:45am *sigh*. Then a little while later he says, "turn on the TV to channel 7," So I did. And what did I see?
JUSTIN BIEBER CONCERT: Area full. All newcomers will be turned away.
or something like that. The point is, at 4:30am, the place was packed! There was no way we could watch now. So what were we to do? Well, I'll tell you what we did, we went anyway! No one else would've thought of that would they?
I really thought the train to Circular Quay would be empty this early in the morning but turns out, a whole lot of Bieber fans and people going to work were there too! One person was even playing Justin Bieber songs out loud ... FOR THE WHOLE TRIP! As we got closer and closer to Circular Quay, we could feel the excitement in the air, the cool early-morning, autumn air. :D
And when we got off the train, it was like fulfilling a dream, a specific dream that involved meeting Justin Bieber ... BUT THEN! An announcement on the PA killed it.
"ATTENTION, THE JUSTIN BIEBER CONCERT HAS BEEN CANCELED"
WHAT!? Yes, that's exactly what every girl( and that one weird group of guys) on platform 2 was thinking. And saying. And screaming. HOW COULD IT BE CANCELED!? But sure enough, when we went out to the balcony overlooking Circular Quay HEAPS of people were walking BACK to the station and they all seemed to be coming from a large crowd at the Overseas Passenger Terminal (where the concert was to be held)
After we met up with a friend, we started walking over to the Overseas Passenger Terminal. Yes, we knew it was canceled, but we just wanted to check it out. And when we got there, the place was surrounded by teenage girls and police! The police were telling everyone to go home but nobody listened. They were just standing there in hysteria, DEMANDING Justin Bieber! Someone even made a sign that said "This Sucks!" Soon enough it became pretty clear that the concert was off. It wasn't going to stop us though ...
At the same time and all together, in some united troupe/crazy mob formation EVERYONE who stayed started walking up George St. to Martin Place. If he was going to perform at Sunrise before, then maybe he'd be there now right? Right? RIGHT?! We filled up the whole sidewalk, marching. We sang "Baby" as loud as we could. It was a magnificent sight, let me tell you that. hahahaha
At Martin Place, an army of police officers were waiting for us, fortunately they weren't telling us to leave. Standing in front of the studio's glass, they tried controlling the crowd ... but the crowd controlled THEM. We were too many and they were overcome. We waited outside watching the screens to see if Justin would be on, we didn't know ... we just didn't know. :(
It was a really fun experience standing in that huge over-excited crowd. Everytime the camera pointed to them, they screamed. When Mel & Kochie talked about Justin Bieber, the screamed. When a picture of his album came up on the screen, they screamed. When Sunrise came back on from commercial break .. guess what? They screamed. When Sunrise showed topless photos of Justin Bieber, they ROARED! It was sooo freaking loud! My ears!
A number of people turned up at the window. Is it because we were making too much noise? We'll never know ...
We saw Fifi Box! And we waved, but she didn't wave back (bitch) :L
Grant Denyer turned up at the window numerous times. He couldn't get enough of the crowd outside. Fun fact: WOW! He REALLY is small. Tiny.
Then there was a whole lot of Seven staff who turned up to witness the mob, taking pictures.
Of course, like any good riot, we had our chants -
- "We want Justin! We want Justin!"
- *singing Baby*
- and my personal favourite "Justin! Justin! Justin! Justin!" It started off slow and then got quicker and quicker and quicker until it was so quick that all we could do was just cheer and scream! Haahahaha good times.
By 7:40 (entertainment report time), it was really starting to get squishy in there, you basically couldn't move. And STILL, teenage girls were pushing through tiny gaps just so they can get closer to the camera and hopefully ... Justin Bieber. But it pissed me off. I was like "Ok. Imma tell you ONE TIME - BITCH, STOP PUSHING!!" LOL
All that became irrelevant though because suddenly, the screens were broadcasting some very important news. BIEBER TO PERFORM. An ear-piercing scream erupted from the crowd as finally, all our hours of waiting started to pay off. They were screaming and screaming and crying and laughing and screaming and jumping in the air. It was awesome. And even though all we could do was see him on the screen, we sang along and supported him through it all. Hahahahaha.
My favourite article from today. WATCH THE VIDEO!
ALL IN ALL it was a pretty awesome day and a great experience to have. Everyone should have that experience - being in a crowd that's totally pumped and don't care who they're gonna trample or how many laws they're gonna break just to catch a glimpse of their idol. Recommended. Think about it :)
